The Richest Man in Babylon Chapter 1

 A Historical Sketch of Babylon

(A Review)

I am always interested in historical cities and their reasons to exist and fade away. This city took my attention and retained until I get to know each and every detail about its uniqueness of prosperity. This book named "The Richest Man in Babylon"made me think of the curve of our evolution in terms of intelligence. I will be pounding many interesting facts and takeaways from this book.

This first chapter goes with the historical introduction of this beautiful city. It was said to have treasures and splendor despite of only two natural resources which are fertile soil and river water. I know these two resource are enough to get started but truth lies in the fact that these two can't lead any city to reach that prosperity which people of babylon were enjoying that time.

This city was located somewhere in asia having atmosphere similar to Canada and ruled by many kings, but that was not the reason of its wealth. This book wants to tell us about something more, its wealth and people who lived 8000 years ago. They were said to be first engineers, financers and mathematicians also farmers as I mentioned they got water and land to get started in the first place. But I believe these people were much more than this.

Greeks copied their studies and got 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute pattern, 12 inches in a foot calculations. They were not just confined to this. The atlantis wrote about babylonians ," Stop Calling the Babylonians Scientists". They claimed that babylonians were very efficient in tracking jupiter and their celestial studies were based on the motion of all planets around the earth but the reason behind their cosmic study was not scientific but politically driven astrological. They had to forecast future events for the king and kingdom.

What excites me in this book is whom we are going to read about "the richest man in Babylon". Such talented people, such glory and wisdom is going to unveil. They got everything we still strive for in terms of skill in a single city. Cyrus was said to be one of the mightiest rules of Babylon but I am not sure if that richest person was him or someone else. Let's dive into the next chapter "The Man Who Desired Gold".
